La France salue l’élection du nouveau président de la Birmanie, menée dans le cadre de la constitution actuelle, à l’issue d’un processus électoral démocratique. Elle lui exprime tous ses vœux de succès dans la haute mission que vient de lui confier le Parlement birman.

L’élection de Htin Kyaw marque la poursuite de la transition du pays, après la large victoire aux élections législatives de Aung San Suu Kyi et de son parti, la Ligue nationale pour la Démocratie, symbole des attentes fortes du peuple birman.

La France se tient aux côtés de la Birmanie pour l’accompagner sur le chemin de la démocratie, du développement et de la réconciliation nationale.

France welcomes the election of the new president of Burma, conducted within the framework of the current constitution, following a democratic election process.

 It wishes him every success as he undertakes the exceptionally important duties entrusted to him by the Burmese Parliament.

The election of Htin Kyaw marks the continuation of the country’s transition, after Aung San Suu Kyi and her party, the National League for Democracy, won a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections, symbolizing the Burmese people’s high expectations.

France stands alongside Burma on its path toward democracy, development and national reconciliation.
